Goldfinch was a well presented, considerate story of something most people avoid; shame and the chance to live beyond it to achieve something beautiful in life.
This is challenging on both fronts; the shame, and the living beyond it, both real, and both portrayed succinctly and directly in the movie.
To pan the movie for some acting or technical reason and not pay credence to the difficult storyline well presented in depth is to be shortsided and miss the message the writer and director successfully accomplished.
Lessons, life lessons, and options for resolution, are key to many viewers. Hopefully this post reaches those who struggle with these same challenges, decide to see the movie for themselves, and enjoy the elegance and deeper meanings in its presentation.
