Really wanted to like this game - I'm a fan of post-apocoplyptic RPGs, pixel art, and deep story based games - so I watched the trailer and thought this would be right up my street. Basically, it wasn't. I feel like it's advertised falsely, it's more like a dungeon crawler with some running around in between.
Good things:
Cooking mechanic is neat.
Pixel art characters and landscapes look cool.
Some of the puzzles are interesting.
Bad things:
Padded out conversations that take a long time to say practically nothing
Main old guy you play as is mute, so the kid is the predominant voice. Sometimes it's cute but mostly it's a bit annoying and pointless just reading a kid's random mumblings.
So far I haven't encountered any side quests, you just follow a main storyline with no opportunity for deviation.
Environments aren't interactive at all - seems like you just walk from one conversation to the next. Nothing to look at, read or collect. Just walking from point A to point B.
Characters are one-dimensional and unlikeable.
Fighting mechanic is just whacking things.
All in all - definitely not worth full price. I've played much better indie games for less. Not sure how they can justify the price for this just because they claim it's an RPG.
