My parents and grandmother MADE me watch this in the 1950's. When I was married and moved to a farm in the late 1960's, we could only get one channel, and it happened to carry the Welk show. I started watching it with interest, once I was a bit older. I've watched it every Saturday night at 7:00 PM since. I was 14 when made to watch the show, and I'm now 80, and I still watch the PBS reruns that are shown at 7:00 PM every Saturday night. The music never changes. It's the wonderful, upbeat, happy songs, love songs, orchestra music, dancers, and, of course, Lawrence Welk himself, a charming man who by today's standards seems a little corny, but I've loved this show for about 60 years, and I hope to see it until my time is gone. You must watch this show and see what real music and entertainment really are!
