Absoluety brilliant series, that a lot of people are belittling for the cast or dialogue between characters. Tolkien was notorious for his story telling, and also for his (sometimes) clumsy dialogue between characters - which every reader can attest to. It's quite simply very Tolkien.
A lot of the 1 star reviews are from those who went in with expectations, or lack there of, or those who are upset at the representation of the cast. Despite being a man of the 1950s, Tolkien wrote about those with different skin tones to those shown in the infamous LotR film series, yet some now see it as "wrong" to include those people. Whilst he wrote of the skin tones most known to him - white, Scandinavian, Eastern European - he also included those of colour, which should ultimately be celebrated and accepted. It's a fictional world, and I dare any racist, incel white man or woman who claims to be a fan of Tolkien to tell POC that they can't be included in said world.
Brilliant storyline, even better cast. Go into this series with an open mind and heart, and you'll find yourself by episodes 5 and 6 enjoying this as much as you did with The Hobbit/LotR.
