This is the version that should have been made first. It follows the plot of the books really well which i adore. It also has stunning animation and scenary throughout the set. Also i love that the episode names are the chapter names from the book.

I was really skeptical of That 90s Show because many remakes don't include enough original cast or answer the questions left from the original series, or the humor just fails in the new show. This show had none of those issues. If you know anything about That 70s show you'll know that it was bought out during season 7 &8 by writers that hated the original plot and the characters. That 90s Show goes back to the same track as the original seasons of 70s show and ties it together well. The show continues with some of the classic jokes as well as having some funny original ones. I think the cast of teenagers actually fit really well and they have unique personalities but at the same time you definitely see the original characters in them. The humor style is pretty much the same as the original too. Im rewatching the original for the 4th time and the two shows fit together perfectly. I've seen some people say the show can't stand on its own and relies too much on the original humor but that's kind of the point of a good reboot- to be simular and connect with the original while still introducing new characters and plots.

If the show could stand on it's own it wouldnt be bad. But the fact of the matter is Mindy took characters that already had been established for 50 years and completely changed everything about them. The personalities do not match the established characters. SPOILERS (Daphne would never be drug dealer, Velma comes across as coincieted and rude) The show is also supposed to take place before they become the mystery gang, meaning they are actual kids but they act way more grown than they ever did in any of the remakes, so it makes the show just seem awkward. Quite honestly it either seems like Mindy has never watched scooby doo in her life or that she just built the characters based off her own story, in which case, why even base it off of scooby doo? Why not just write your own story and establish your own characters that could actually stand on their own. She relied on the Scooby franchise to bring in an audience but she changed everything that makes the mystery gang who they are. Honestly it just feels like she just used the franchise to get her work out there and it backfired horribly.
