This show is a masterpiece. I'm saddened that the reviews are being dragged down by angry zealots, for they missed the entire point. History has shown us time and time again what religion did and does to those that do not bend the knee - no gods needed for that bit of cruelty.
That being said, the show starts as a slow burn and evolves into something that would otherwise be difficult to wrestle with in just 7 episodes, but the director did a wonderful job keeping it all together.
Some moments could have been handled differently, according to viewers, but it's easy to be an armchair quarterback and imagine yourself as somehow superior to the characters - yet another genius gut punch by the creator.
If you're not easily offended, this is a must-watch.
