Breaking Bad is often praised as one of the greatest TV shows, but for me, it was a frustrating experience. The constant repetition of dialogues and character behaviors made it feel like the show was dragging unnecessarily. Walter White, instead of being a compelling antihero, became outright annoying with his arrogance and stubbornness.
The show tries too hard to make him seem like a mastermind, yet his actions often feel predictable and repetitive. Meanwhile, innocent characters suffer the most, while those truly responsible walk away with minimal consequences. Skyler, despite acting morally superior, was fully complicit—she encouraged murder and gladly laundered money when it benefited her. The same goes for his son, who never questioned where the sudden wealth came from. Yet in the end, they get a future while Hank, who actually had integrity, is killed, and the money Walter fought for goes to the very people who enabled his crimes.
And what was Walter’s real goal? HIS BRAIN SEEMED TO BE WORKING JUST FINE UNTIL THE END, which means he wasn’t acting out of desperation but for SELF-SATISFACTION. The show tries to frame his descent as a tragic necessity, but in reality, he was nowhere near the intellectual depth or vision of a true mastermind like LIGHT YAGAMI FROM DEATH NOTE. Walter had no higher purpose—just ego and greed disguised as family devotion.
The ending felt like a cop-out—Walter should have suffered more, especially by witnessing his family’s downfall. DEATH WAS AN EASY ESCAPE; real punishment would have been facing the full consequences of his actions. And Jesse? He had every reason to take revenge on Walter after Jane, Brock, and everything else—but somehow, the show forces them into a weird, forced “understanding.” Jesse forgiving Walter after all that feels ridiculous and ruins what could have been a powerful confrontation.
Overall, Breaking Bad is overhyped, slow, and filled with frustrating character choices. THIS SHOW IS MORE TRAUMATIC THAN SATISFYING.
