While I have not seen this film in it's entirety...
I suspect, based on the reviews of the "professionals; ebert," this film is framed to uphold the current construct of this country's form of government, and to pivot, when feasible, to "its not a perfect system, but it is better than most" canned media annswer / philosophy.
The actor selected to be the "antagonist/archetype/disillusioned patriot" was a good choice.
The story of sovereignty is a valid topic, given today's cultural climate, and though the idea of "claiming" sovereignty, is ridiculous, in a society....
Our government officials and their Brute squad (I'm certain if the antagonist was killed...it was by them!) DO IN FACT act, and conduct themselves, AS SOVEREIGN CITIZENS.
THEREIN LIES THE INTENTIONAL MISDIRECTION OF HOLLYWOOD, WHO TAKES THEIR MARCHING ORDERS FROM THESE SAME officials...
Probably wouldn't have received funding to make a movie depicting the REAL SOVEREIGN CITIZENS, and the heinous crap they actually get away with AS SOVEREIGN CITIZENS.
