WOW ||, FIERY, || ACTION-PACKED
My expectations were mid after watching the teaser and trailer, but after the pre-release event and speech given by NTR, my expectations rose. The film didn't disappoint me; it satisfied my expectations.
The concept and plot are good, with few twists and turns. The first half of the movie is very good. The entry sequence of Hrithik Roshan felt a little weak; the cinematography is very good for his entry sequence, but the action choreography is too easy. My expectations were high for that sword action sequence, but this scene didn't satisfy me enough. His look is solid in that scene; the VFX of the wolf is ok-ok. I like the way they used the red colour in virtual video conferencing scenes. Kiara Advani's entry is good. The dialogues of Ashutosh Rana are solid. BUT BUT BUT the entry sequence of NTR is solid, fire, eye-catching, and clappable. The way he came flying and then that BGM – it is too good. I like his BGM.
The movie's music is very good, especially the NTR bgm. The Janabe Ali song is nice, and the dance choreography is also good, but it wasn't enough by both of them; especially, they could have given more hard choreography to Hrithik Roshan. The first half is engaging and acting-packed. Aerial action sequences looked very good. The car chase sequence is also good. I like that they polished the VFX of the train sequence. Interval twist is good; I thought of something else, but it came out something else.
The second half is more of a story than action. The flashback story is ok-ok. Kiara Advani's storyline wasn't required in the film; the love angle of Hrithik and Kiara didn't have any effect on the storyline of the film. Kiara Advani's character is flatly written. There is one scene at basement parking; they made it really engaging by throwing a surprise message. I thought of a cameo by any other actor, but it's ok. Who came in that scene is a spoiler, so I'll not write about that. But the way the makers have been able to keep that character hidden since shooting time is commendable. That character is not having a cameo; it is in a full role in the movie. I like it. The last 15 minutes are really engaging. The climax action sequence is ok-ok.
War 1 is more structured; well, it has flow overall in the movie. Ayan Mukerji has shifted locations continuously in this movie. The first half is overshadowed by NTR, and the second half is taken away by Hrithik Roshan. The cinematography and locations look good on screen. Ayan Mukerji impressed me by his direction. The ending is good. The post-credit scene is average. The movie has a few lacking points, like they didn't show us the continuous backstory of NTR or how his character has built up. And plus, they forget to give a conclusion about War 1 ending with the antagonist; Hrithik talked about him, saying that he will go against him, but this movie didn't give any reference or update about that plot. And in the climax, how one character changed is also less focused.
Overall it didn't disappoint me. It is enjoyable. I rate it 4/5.
