What is the point? It’s just a ridiculous guessing game, extended over a whole miserable hour. Just dreadful 😤

Quite the cruellest thing I’ve ever seen, from not letting the calf suckle, and taking her away from her mother almost straight away then putting her in solitary confinement, and quarterizing her head with a red hot poker presumably to prevent horn growth. That poor little calf looked so scared. Not a kind word or gentle pat. Heartless and inhumane. Same for the dairy cows, living cheek by jowl in their own muck with no obvious straw bedding. What a sad life! I nearly turned off but the cows were eventually let out onto a grassy field (maybe springtime) which perked them up, and probably improved the quality of the milk! The little ones also got released onto pasture so improvement all round. However the same poor mother cow had her next calf possible only 6-8 months later, same process. Splitting them up straight away. I can’t watch any more 🥲

The plot and storyline are good but I’m struggling to hear all the dialogue. Some of the actors speak unclearly and too fast, esp DS Rafferty.

It was a brilliant book and the film reflected this. Beautifully made and filmed in stunning scenery. My only criticism is that when we first met grown up Kya she looked like a celebrity straight out of a hair salon! Rather too well dressed and clean for Marsh Girl.
