Ignore the hate, they’re probably paid.
The game is legitimately solid in everything it does. I’m playing on Xbox X and it runs well enough for me on performance (60fps), with little to no bugs encountered. The graphics are great, the story is interesting (so far), the characters are mostly intriguing, the world is new and refreshing, and the combat is amazing. The RPG stuff is very solid, obsidian knows what they’re doing.
- Character creator is nice BUT you CAN’T edit them later
- Combat is like Skyrim but modern, including dodges and hotkeys
- Skill trees are serviceable with pretty useful and cool abilities
- Side quest are surprisingly very interesting and feel like main story quests, which was unexpected given all the hate this game is receiving
- Many NPC’s (randoms too) have a lot dialogue, and the dialogue choices can range from serious, mean, and/or even goofy, which was surprising since many ppl said the game wasn’t very deep
- I never typically use companions in these type of games, but you don’t have a choice. I didn’t mind after a bit because you do need them (in combat) and they do add context and chip in sometimes to the story and environment
In conclusion I think Avowed is a very solid 8/10 and is great for $20 on game pass.
