Night Petal

It's a super cute movie, I'd watch it again.

James Wan nailed the Conjurings and Aquaman, and if you agree, then don't watch Malignant. How? Just, how are there any good reviews on here? Did we watch the same movie? The first twenty minutes of the movie, your interest is piqued by this supernatural, shadowy killer and what motivates it. Quickly, the film becomes tired, drawn out, and by the middle of it, you've already figured out the twist, but you're continually, THROUGH TO THE END, fed unnecessarily redundant context that leads you to the conclusion you easily figured out by the second kill based on the creature's hilarious appearance. It's laughably bad, and sometimes that's a really good thing, but that wasn't the intention here. Better luck with the next one, Mr. Wan, but this ain't it.

Spoilers upcoming: The Batman wasn't the worst, it just shouldn't be all that hyped up either. People were falling asleep in the theater to this one. My bf and I are huge fans of both comic and cinema Batman, and we went into this film understanding he's like a year two, younger Batman, but still fairly experienced, post League of Shadows. What we received was an unintimidating, quiet guy with messy eyeshadow, in a stiff Batman suit, who can't beat henchmen without well-timed help. The scripting isn't Pattinson's fault, he just doesn't fit the part. Nonetheless, it was nice to view him as a brooding detective, and not the known playboy, philanthropist Bruce Wayne. A New York cityscape passed off as Gotham was bad enough, but this is a three hour movie with so much scenic filler and flood shots. Visually unappealing as all this was, the Penguin makeup and the Riddler casting were decent.
