The Chi has made another valiant effort to address the concerns of the inner city โBlackโ community; however, it falls short when portraying the lives of those men who I myself have become familiar with via educational and business networks. โBlackโ men... men who are loyal husbands and strong fathers who raise their sons to be disciplined, organized and decisive. The latter is unseen in the Chi. Instead we see โBlackโ men as pathological liars, drug/crime associated politicians, drunkards, mysonginistic, impulsive, shallow, sexually confused, uneducated, unemployed, fatherless and politically naive. The screenplay is given an upgrade from the excellent use of cinematography and photography via the use of angles and lighting that draw the attention necessary when creating an advertisement for BLM and sociopolitical agendas that have taken flight since the unfortunate barbaric murder of George Floyd.
Overall I give the series after season one 2.5 stars out of 5.
