It was a horrendous war that was dinner time news for America. The Women depicts the savagery well and how the women, i.e. the nurses, were thought of, or should I say, not thought of. Except by those they saved. I lived some of those years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia, had a couple of friends in the Marines, saw the guys on R&R in Penang. No one came back the same. And, on return they were shunned, surely not listened to, basically ignored if not spat upon.
Thank you, Kristin Hannah, for writing this book.
