This book reads like a run on sentence . There are really no likable characters in the story and Bertie , whose voice this is written in , is apparently stuck in early childhood maturity wise ,and her character does not develop as the decades go by . The incessant use of the word " Wroth" to indicate anger also made me cringe . I understand Bertie is limited by her back woods upbringing but it was extremely redundant to hear Bertie literally say the same things under every circumstance throughout the book making her a highly one dimensional character . unfortunately every character was one dimensional until the end . the writer tried to evoke strong emotions but the story is so dry you will find yourself reading but never connecting with the characters.Berties life is filled with tragedy , but the story lacks depth so you will find yourself not caring . I would not buy this book . Instead i would get it from the library .
