For a movie to capture the essence of its animated predecessor whilst simultaneously taking you on an epic rollercoaster ride, truly makes this live action attempt wondrous. And I don’t normally say that, as most live action movies fail to live up to the hype.
Modern movies struggle to recreate the adventures as well as misadventures of a band of youthful misfits. But How To Train Your Dragon echos the sentiment of The Goonies and ET, partly because of the choice of locations, but mostly because of the theatrical and comical acting. The costumes are excellent and the special effects are really well executed.
The beginning was a little annoying because of how dark everything was. But that doesn’t spoil the movie in any way.
