It is a good series, but only till season 3 I must add.
Because from season 4, things get very weird. Everyone seems to be hooking up with everybody and there is just a lot of substance abuse from season 4/5 onwards and a lot of alcohol use. SERIOUSLY, A LOT and almost all of these rich kids problems seems to start with their alcoholic/narcotic nature.
There is just too much tension, too much happening and too many parallel storylines that it is impossible to follow along through the whole season without getting lost keeping track how many people they hookup with.
Season 1 definitely had something special, it got me on the edge of my chair, waiting to find out how things would turn out. The cast was strong, the story was much more natural. The actors looked like and behaved like how rich kids would behave.
But alas! The writers are more worried to eliminating every single character in the series than actually understanding that their presence is what made the series so enjoyable.
If you ask me
here are a few changes I would love to see:
1. sticking to the same actors, giving them a strong character development.
2. Focusing less on the party or alcohol or substance part or what happens as a result of the people doing that.
3. Focusing more on the mystery and the blame games that ensue as a consequence of the murder or accident or whatever you call it.
4. Making the protagonists more human, not just some kids who hook up and party all the time. Make them do realistic things like brainstorming ideas about what could be done to get them out of a threat.
Look, I have not watched any episode after season 7: episode 2
but I wish I stopped watching it from the same season that they tried to include that French prince Philip into the series. Because after that, the series gets dark and tasteless.
