The movie is good and Harry Potter fans are going to love it. Lots of characters are introduced and it is a perfect start to the series' actual story. It shows how manipulative Grindelwald is and why wizards support him. Seriously, the only thing he cleverly does is use words and it is done well enough to twist people's mind. I like such villains as it is a refreshing change. Basically, this is all about his rise to power and the movie ends in a wonderful cliffhanger where the viewers can't help but want to know what happens next.
It's beautiful to watch and keeps you engaged throughout. There are no major confrontations or duels or twists (except for the ending, which we cannot confirm as complete truth since Grindelwald is so manipulative). But a platform is set for the actual drama to take place and we can't help but want to see the legendary duel.
No actual story but the title is apt as it's all about the crimes of Grindelwald. Personally, I didn't feel like it's a waste of money but yes, I did expect more from the movie.
