I guessed the main plot by episode 2, but then I grew up in the 70's and recognized the "flavour", the "vibe" of the phychological thriller from the era, which this series copies very well. The slow pace and moodiness of the show, and of course the fashions, really take me back. The thing is, I saw that episode of "Starsky & Hutch". The genre, I think, was kind of groundbreaking for portraying the surprise criminal who was dealing with weird psychological issues. If I remember right, S&H was one of the series that introduced that genre. So, when I read a thriller book or see a thriller show or movie where I can guess the outcome very quickly, I always say, "I saw that episode of Starsky & Hutch." Everything produced these days in this genre seem quite derivative, but in the case of "The Crowded Room", it's nostalgic as well.
