The tone of the movie wasn't bad but the issue I have is with the characters that's being portrayed. If this was an original story then maybe it could have worked but this was supposed to represent a beloved franchise. At least the previous RE movies just went with their stories and just sprinkled stuff about the franchise. This tried to present itself as a true homage to the original games horror aspect and just completely missed the mark. The main characters were just a complete failure. Chris, Claire, Jill, Leon and Wesker are not the characters from the gaming franchise.
