Gripping read. I read the whole thing in less than a day. Adam’s character is selfish and annoying. I kept wanting to scream at him. Both Eleanor and Matthew’s characters were unnecesary to the story as they were of no consequence to the story line. I was also annoyed by how much the author wrote about how good or powerful Sarah’s character looked. How many times can we read about her Laboutins, Hermes tote bag, and Chanel sunglasses? Sarah is a successful defense attorney — we get that.
I agree with the others; there was a lot of build-up in going to trial, and the author kept me on my feet about the third set of DNA, but everything after that was glossed over. Soon, the story was over when there were still so many questions left to be answered.
How/when did Kelly start seeing and sleeping with Sheriff Stevens? Why the flirtatious back and forth between Stevens and Sarah? Why did Sarah claim, “I knew it” when she found out the 3rd DNA match was Stevens’ while she thought all along it was Marcus Hudson’s? Was there someone really lurking in the bushes outside Rebecca’s house?
And why the hell did she end up with Bob in the end when they had been fighting at the law firm all this time?! Why did he come to her office to “clear” himself when they were in cahoots of this murder?! Like soooo many questions and holes unanswered. Sure, it was a plot twist, but the Sarah at the end was such a totally callous character than the Sarah throughout the book. It just seemed disjointed.
