I loved this book sooo much, it definitely was worth the short read of 241 pages. The very simple take away from this book is "what is the other thinking, and why". The author puts emphasis on understanding how the octopuses and other underwater invertebrates in the aquarium- and just living things that have consciousness, understand and think. The book is very "put yourself in my shoes" type. It helps build a bigger perspective of who and what you share the world with. There was a review that was arguing that the book did not answer questions about consciousness in animals and just the possibility of other minds than human. So they clearly didn't read the book because the author makes many points about why she believes others (not humans) have sentience. In that review they also state that it's just a shallow narrative about putting animals on display and blah blah blah naturalists don't want to answer deep questions and she's not the person she claims to be. The book is a memoir, not an argumentative essay or some scientific report. But whatever I don't know why I spent time writing this review but all in all the book was good ๐
