You must watch part 1 first. It would be difficult to pick up this film without the history. This film carries on the epic style presentation of blood line of the house of atreides. Will they survive or be eradicated? If they survive, will they rise to greatness politically, religiously, or simply blend in with the oppressed desert people? The story is immersive - the writing, the cinematography and sound absolutely stand out; the culture of the “desert people” teetering on the edge of survival captivating; the length of the movie (almost 3 hours) perfect; so many “goosebump” moments; and the “closure” of part 2 was satisfying (unlike part 1). The acting is incredibly strong with only one meh (I’ll let you figure out who - or even agree at all). If you are a sci fi fan, this movie series is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Only sad part is waiting 3-4 years for the final part 3. Highly recommended.

I liked the story line but the acting and casting is super weak. I don’t normally fuss about that but it really takes a fun and engaging storyline and causes a major distraction.

Easy in and out puzzler. Simple mechanics combined with charming graphics and story, this is definitely worth having in any collection.

* terrible acting by the young “America” actress - to the point of it being distracting * cheesy B tier horror like scene of the dream water in the tunnel * embellished to the point of distracting dark magic “draining the girl on the altar” * corny-to-make-a-point-of-appeal parental figures to America LOVED the first one. This one just didn’t have the same magic.

A deep story that takes an hour to properly orient yourself set in a well created future. Ingenious machines and customs help the audience immerse into the story. My only complaint is that it really feels like a movie cut in half - you start something we may be waiting years to finish without any real closure after the first ends.
