Have only watched through season 1 so far. I must confess its a difficult show to judge. Some episodes are headache inducing and unwatchable, while others are mildly entertaining. Often the dialogue is more suited for a play than for tv. The husband is neurotic and this creates a situation where the wifes role seems to try to match the husbands neuroticism. It often comes across as forced and painfully unfunny. Where even in the most absurd comedies like Seinfeld and Always Sunny in Philadelphia, i can relate or see something identifiable even if its the characters darkest impulses, None of that occurs in Mad About You. Its exposition and dialogue just for its own sake. Having said that, it can be somewhat amusing. I did actually laugh a couple times over season 1. The guest stars help immensely I am hopeful the show improves in future seasons.
After finishing all 7 seasons and the reboot, the show does improve slightly , overall i would give the original run 3 and a half stars. Actual laugh out loud moments are very very few, but you do settle into a mild amusement at its best moments.
