This show had me in a chokehold and not always in a good way. It was way too long for an eight-episode series. I mean, there’s dragging out a mystery, and then there’s just doing the absolute most. Some parts felt like they were filling time instead of pushing the plot forward.
That said, I stuck it out, and I’ll admit the ending was a little weird but it kinda made sense. Maya is a very smart lady. Once everything came together, I could see where they were going. The tension was real, but I couldn’t help thinking it didn’t need to take so long to get to the point.
In the end, Fool Me Once had some solid twists, but the pacing killed a lot of the excitement for me. It could’ve been a much tighter, more impactful series if they had cut it down to 4–6 episodes max. If you have the patience, it’s worth finishing, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself rolling your eyes at how drawn-out it feels.
