Lots of depth in this show. Sad to see people giving this a one star rating because of the timing. Very good show.
The premise of the show is connectedness during a time where people feel more disconnected than ever, so it’s fitting that every episode shows different people suffering through the pandemic in different ways. you get to see a diverse range struggles through very human realities of this pandemic, making the viewer feel more aware and connected with other people’s struggles. A reminder that we are all in this together, even though we may be experiencing it differently.
The whole show is shot from a perspective of technology, highlighting how technology has kept people connected.
The show also includes a lot of symbolism and well structured narratives. For example, a gay character in a conservative family has his microphone muted for most of his episode, symbolic of how he had to stay in the closet about his homosexuality. In another episode, a woman struggles with childhood neglect by seeing herself become the neglector, forced into her realization by realistic circumstances created by the pandemic. The pandemic results in personal growth that brings her closer to loved ones.
Anyway, objectively good writing. Will probably be more appreciated later. I suspect some people dislike it because it’s too real. For the same reason we get a million zombie shows about death snd grieving over tragedy but not much about tragic stories of real life homelessness and poverty.
