The concept for this show is interesting, and I really want to like it more than I do. My bf and I liked the first season enough to watch the second. The second season… totally scattered. We didn’t make it past the second season.
Throughout the show they investigate different paranormal situations- but things are pretty much never truly concluded; people die and go missing in the story and the characters do not blink an eye or ever talk about it again. Side plots are abandoned left and right, the main story is so slow to progress, things you think are going to be important are not! Don’t get me started on how court, the law, or the police work in this show.(They don’t).
**Spoilers ahead**
It threw us for a loop that Kristen KILLED a guy and there was never any follow up on that?? No consequences as far as we were willing to watch. A man’s wife turns into a pillar of salt, biblical style! No follow up there; roll credits. I love that these crazy things happen, it’s so interesting. We want to know more, but unfortunately it has no weight because it’s just glossed over. The way these events are portrayed in the story is that it doesn’t matter, moving on. So the next time the show gives you something crazy, it loses its meaning- because you know they’re gonna skip right past it.
On another note, it’s kind of hilarious how close Kristen’s character is to supernatural happenings, events, and characters and there is never a moment where she reconsiders her point of view. Even though I think the writers intended her character to be intelligent. In real life; when we receive new information or encounter the same phenomena over and over again… we take that stuff into account. A big plot point in season 1 was that one of Kristen’s daughters has a life threatening heart issue. Her daughter’s heart is miraculously healed. No reaction from Kristen. This sort of thing happens often. A lot of non-reaction from several characters; makes it hard to relate or understand what the characters are feeling/thinking. If they are feeling/thinking at all.
