***spoilers in this review***
I played the original LiS and really enjoyed it. I’ve followed the other games too and thought they were well done. I was excited to play this game and hopeful for a captivating story with a character I’d already emotionally invested in.
I really enjoyed the first two chapters and felt like my choices meant something, but halfway through I got really confused with the storyline. What’s up with the cop that just disappeared and then we never followed up with what happened? There’s two characters for the life/death timelines of everyone else except Max? No follow up on if Max shot Safi or if she didn’t? And why are all the choices inconsequential with what actually happened?
The ending was the worst too. It’s like we played this game for hours and then…nothing happens? At the end I was left underwhelmed. I understand a cliffhanger, but I paid money for a game, not half of one. Feels like players got shortchanged.
The music was phenomenal. I enjoyed the graphics. I felt connected to the characters of Max and Moses. But was let down by the storyline. I’ll end up playing the next one to see if there’s a redemption, but I’m less excited for the release. I hope it’s more intentional than this one.
