The story jumped all over the place. I’ve read the book and have seen other versions of the movie and my favorite is still the Winona Ryder one. It was straight forward and told the story beautifully with no confusion about when, where, what is going on. The new adaptation was still ok because of the cast but if I wasn’t familiar with the story, I would have had a hard time following what was past and what happening at the moment. I took my 18 year old niece and her friend that did not read the book or see past adaptations and they had questions but still liked it.
