Animal's Review :
Ranbir Kapoor delivered a fab performance๐ just like he did in Sanju. Guys aging like a fine wine
So I happened to watch the movie till interval last week cuz don't have the patience to sit through a 3 hours movie in one go
The screen play, pictursation & intensity felt entertaining so decided to give 2nd half a shot today
Only to regret and step out disappointed. Not cuz the movie didn't match up the first half, it still kept up the pace and momentum in terms of intensity
But for the very reason I don't watch Akshay Kumar movies anymore
Unfortunately it's just another movie trying to pacify the right wing ruling party in India and its forever loyal cult , this time disguised with some good screen play and acting
So it has the following elements that show up in the 2nd half
1. Patriotism and strong hindutva undertone which by itself is not a problem
2. The problem is that it is always coupled with an anti Muslim rhetoric which unapologetically flexes on the stereotypes
3. and yes appeasing the Sikh community
Only if they had kept the movie religiously neutral.
The hyper musculinisation and some arguably misogynistic scenes were controversial enough.
But by showing 3 families from different cultures and only one in a negative light , its nothing but an attempt to tap on to the sentiment that BJPs polarising politics has been flaring up since the past decade
