So overhyped. Don't get me wrong there are some epic moments. But there is so much reliance on the sountrack to say "Whoa this is awesome" Huge bassy synths roar every time they transition shots. Its like JJ Abrams over using lens flares. Obviously the cinematics were very artistic and for that they get an A+. But the writing and plot could have just as easily been a TV series. I was not moved in the way I expected. And the Emporer did not seem like an Emporer. The scale of the Galactic authority seemed very low key. Compare to David Lynches Galactic emporer from the 1984 version. You knew from the set and the costumes this dude ruled the galaxy. Christopher Walkens Emporer was tired and lost like a Joe Biden in space. The importance of spice in all of this needed to be reestablished if your going to break it into two parts. I dont know- it just didnt strike enough chords to me.

The Last of Us meets Lost In Space in the Land of The Lost. Too much use of split second lucky getaways and near misses. Hard to get past the convenience of a 65 million year old humanoid civilization that is culturally and racially exactly like ours all the way down to the same cuss words. The acting was great but the plot was a bit thin.

Pro Authentic historical context. Great cinematography and scenery. Important story that needs telling. A+ list of actors Cons Far too long DeNiro was wrong for the part Kept treading the same ground over and over. The bickering of Deniro and Decaprios characters was annoying. The gullibility of the characters was distracting. It moved very slow. The emotional just did not land well.
