Long wind up with dialogue, over half the movie. The first major jumpscare and the rest of the movie left me with goosebumps.
I don't scare easy and this got me genuinely scared, it's really a story about the brothers and although there's a lot of missing content as well as unexplained parts, I liked letting my imagination fill in the gaps. A horror movie handing over ham-fisted jumpscares is too common and too easy. This movie had me yelping a bit. My friends were bored and wanted to change it, but I was invested in the story. Turned out to have a great horror element that wasn't too cheesy and let me almost scare myself just imagining it. CGI budget, probably the entire budget, was very small, so I give them what they earned through making a simple story into a climactic night of scares followed by a short thriller ending. Lots of hints and ideas seeded by the younger brother, seemed almost alien-like. I DID NOT expect the ending, which was a big plus for me. I don't think that I'd watch it again, genuinely scared me a bit. Must at least watch once, let your imagination and suspension of disbelief kick in. The story is certainly up to interpretation and best viewed realizing that the payoff is sooo nice because you really don't expect it, but when it shows up, it shows up big, scared everyone in the room!
