If you like anime I'm sure you'll love this. There were a few different styles of animation kinda jumbled together, not really making coherent transitions. The trailer looks radically different from what we saw on the screen.
We didn't really find the plot line added anything to the lore, and (this is a personal feeling) the dialogue was just so over the top and extra. Obviously the anime style is known for this so I can't really speak to anything other than personal preference, but for what we know dialect and interaction from Middle Earth, it didn't really translate.
We heard familiar terms, words, and phrases, but nothing in this said LOTR to me. Kinda felt like an anime cosplaying as LOTR without any real knowledge of what the series entailed.
All in all, were definitely happy we had an AMC A List membership bc we left the theater after half an hour. Just didn't have the feeling that we were looking for, but don't let the review discourage you.
Go see it for yourself and decide.
