Not as good or vital as Damage & Joy (an actually brilliant album with some material dating back 9-10 years prior to release). Very rarely do bands make albums 30+ years after their inception that are so well defined and musically excellent. That said, TJAMC “still have it” and are still making music that’s true to the TJAMC sound and vision (broad as it may be). The point is, you know The Jesus & Mary Chain when you hear it, and they’re still doing it. With sonically varying results, sure, but hard to fault them for keeping things interesting for themselves.
