All of those people who say “The book does not have a very good ending,” should probably be reminded that the world isn’t perfect. The world will always have flaws no matter what, it is a very cruel world we live in. There will always be racism, and showing, for example, the camp owners letting the Mexicans have hot water, and going into the pool on other days than right before they clean it. That would just not be realistic, in case you didn’t know, yes, it is based on a true story. Even though the book is considered fiction, it is a book of the author’s grandmother’s life in the 1920’s and 30’s. Yes, Esperanza was a spoiled brat, but she comes from a rich life and that makes sense. All of these people that say “Oh, but being so spoiled is bad, and she snobs at poor people as well? This book is awful.” Clearly, those people most likely read a little bit of the book, and then get mad at the smallest of things. For those who didn’t read the book, it actually comes from her father, telling her not to befriend, or be nice to poor people.
Me personally, I think the book is amazing and would definitely recommend it.
