I grew up watching the Fresh Prince, so I was excited when Bel-Air first came out. The first episodes were pretty good, Jazz is a smooth LA character while Geoffrey is a beast! However, I couldnโt get past the lack of comedy, full on drama, the woke politics, and the hypocrisy. For Will to have so much animosity and hatred toward police (because he got arrested for discharging an illegal firearm in public and trying to run from the cops), but none toward the actual drug dealer that was trying to kill him was strike 1. Making Phillip Banks embrace a Black Lives Matter campaign so he can win more votes was strike 2, and turning Ashley Banks into a sexually confused pre-adolescent was strike 3. I get that this is reality for some people, but not for me. I canโt connect to the show, and itโs disappointing. Iโll take a slap from Will Smith across the face before watching another episode.
