If Blue Moon was the first Jack Reacher book I read, it would have been the last. I've always loved Reacher's character - the details about the way he'd go shopping every few days to change his clothes, past references to his family and military family, his food preferences, his reliance on coffee etc. In Blue Moon he is a killing machine. Yes, it all started by getting involved with an elderly couple with a dying daughter who couldn't afford her treatments because she had been ripped off by her previous employer for her health benefits. Of course he felt badly for them and tried to do the best he could for them but from there on it goes over the top and becomes mostly unbelievable. Superfluous violence with no signs of remorse. He's certainly not the complex character I've learned to love.
