I can handle dark subject matter- that is well written. This writing is simply boring. It’s only the dark subject matter that will keep a reader engrossed. I kept thinking that after providing the back history of the storyline that Gregg Olsen’s writing would “take off”. It never did. My husband is a journalist, so I know facts can be written in a compelling way. This is like the old primary reader, Dick and Jane … except they meet the demonic Shelly instead of jumping rope and helping Mother with dinner.
Sorry. I know the story is true which is awful. However, it is not engaging writing for avid readers.
