*Spolier alert*
I honestly thought I would like this movie much more than I did. The acting from Denzel was mediocre. It seemed like he was failing at playing an autistic lawyer (the movie never flat out stated that Roman was on the spectrum, but Denzel's acting made it seem like that's what they were going for).
The first half of the movie was pretty good. Engaging. Then came the point where suspense was hard forced when it was completely unnecessary. That bit of the movie was hard to get past, I almost turned it off, but I had already invested some time o figured I'd finish.
The ending was fine. It wrapped as a story of the unjust being punished (the criminal in jail, the protagonist dead). It also ended with a major progressive piece of legislation being filed, which was cool. It was a fine ending to a somewhat boring movie.
I'd rather them have turned it into more of a documentary feeling movie rather than turning it into a crime and suspense movie, since they had a good story to tell while failing at the suspense they inserted.
Overall, it was "okay". I would t recommend it to anyone, but it wasn't too bad as a whole.
*Edit - go read David Williams' review. He says it best.
