i didnt hate this movie. i’ll start with that. i liked the idea. the thing is though, about five minutes in, it looked more like the first descedants movie rather than what i would’ve expected of a fourth movie. i really think if it had been advertised as a spin off rather than a part of the saga it would have been better. another issue i have is that there is so. many. songs. honestly they all feel rushed, like there isnt enough time for dialogue. there’s a lot of autotune, and it’s very obvious. plus the camera angles are all weird, and i know im not the only one who sees people teleporting from place to place. finally, the plot’s a little dry. i mean (spoiler alert) they go back in time, have whole fight scenes, spy on people, all to steal a book? kind of anti climatic, especially since we never really see what happens until they go back to the present. to wrap it all up, the plot, music numbers and advertising it as a descedants movie were all things i disliked about this movie. however, the movie wasn’t terrible, and the casting was great. it was magical. at least they didn’t try to replace any of the original cast with other actors/actresses.
