Highly recommended show.
To be honest, my expectations for this show hung a little low, being that it was a Prime Video; as in, these films are literally not getting as much attention or preparation as letโs say, something ready to be streamed on Netflix.
*Maybe Spoilers*
But this was not the case for The Wilds. Itโs evident that the production behind the show involved meticulous effort, which Iโm beyond sure has paid off. From filming in the gorgeous New Zealand, every scene was thoughtfully cut (between present interrogation, past island experiences, and at-home storylines), and its transitions followed beautifully. Characters and their complexities, given by an incredible group of actors, left a myriad of emotions with me and alternate audiences.
The only thing I have to critique is that the introduction of the โfeminist protocolโ was a little hard to pick up. The scenes surrounding it felt out of place; I mean, Iโm all for last-minute unveilings, but I couldnโt point out the subject or reason of the dialogue, so it was confusing until the whole concept was explained.
Overall, The Wilds was a very enjoyable and thought-provoking series. I feel emotionally tied to the girls, in particular Shelby and Toniโs relationship. Iโm glad to know itโs been renewed for season two, Iโm already hyped!
