The "science" is "science-ish" but I'll forgive that. I just can't understand why they didn't use conventional weapons to destroy the ship. They had to use this tiny strong filament, it makes a neat scene, but it's pointless. Why were they trying to destroy it? Why couldn't they just idk, use a drone or something to disable the satellite dish? What threat did the crew of the people make that required their destruction? Couldn't they have idk, proven that in court or something of the sort? Also, what was the point of sending a person to the enemy? Makes no sense, since they would have no communication with them. Also the enemy knew that 'if one survives, we survive', so they'd make sure to wipe out everyone, idk why they'd wait 400 years to get rid of humanity if they have these basically super god machines that can do literally anything, and at light speed.
It's shot well, good lighting in most scenes, and you can understand what's going on. The woman who could speak english just gets picked from some labor camp just to put her in charge of trying to speak with aliens, that makes no sense, they'd choose a party loyalist, not someone they sent to a labor camp.
