I never write reviews but This.book.was.AMAZING. I’d give it 10/10 stars if I could! I’m really into Vikings and that whole time period. I’ve read several books and watched the wonderfully done show multiple times.That being said, I just had to get on here and write a review because I don’t know another platform to do so as I don’t have social media! ANYWAYS, hats off to the way that these ladies told the story from the woman’s point of view especially with the time period that this story is based, emphasizing girl power and the hidden strength within ALL women. They also captivated the essence of what it would have been like to be a black shield maiden during this time (super unheard of!) I also LOVE how they very subtly incorporated modern ideologies into the story (you have to read it to understand what I mean by this). Willow Smith and Jess Hendel did such a beautiful job writing this historical fiction/ fantasy novel. I literally could not put it down! Please please please say there will be a Black Shield Maiden II !!
