This was gruesome, raw and clever. It heavily leans into The Subtance' gore but with this ugly stepsister story. I loved how on both sides, cinderella and the ugly stepsister, they both had their reasons for what they are doing unlike the original love and kid targetted story. She wasn't portrayed as a virgin, and it made somewhat sense for her mother to be the fairy godmother who sends the maggots to repair the dress, so I loved the adapted realness to it. The raw view of the patriarchial figures and general society, along with its beauty standards and methods were interesting to watch and understand further.
