I was disappointed in the professional reviews. The side characters are necessary to show the parallel to Christ's life. If he is the modern day Messiah, there has to be a Peter, a Mary Magadalene, the pharisees and so on. I love the show. The geo-political landscape peppered with religious significance is thought provoking...which is why I'm hooked! You find yourself ebbing and flowing between belief and skepticism.
