Very insightful regarding 1) the deep prejudices held by both Muslims and Hindus in India; 2) the power of the existing patriarchal system that subjugates women; 3) the financial/economic system that drives poor villagers to the big cities; 4) the causes for the stunted, bleak and desperate lives of so many Indian men and women.
A somber film that provides a harsh look into socio-economic culture of one particular society and doesnโt offer easy answers, a solution or a happy outcome.

The trueness of it made me weep. I grew up with drunken parents, parents who were sexually aroused and also physically violent when drunk. I take my hat off to the author who was able to reveal himself and his early years so beautifully, so poetically, so sadly. His story is the story of many others not gifted enough to put it on paper.

Iโve been going to the movies for about 80 years. And this is the worst one Iโve seen in my entire life. Anyone who watches this deserves to be paid good money by law theater owner. Save three hours of your life by not watching this movie.
