I'm a die hard trekkie, and I enjoyed most of the series, but it was plagued by clunky writing and hammy acting much of the time. The parallel universe episodes were so agonizingly cliched that I was embarrassed many times. And the last episode was weirdly disconnected from the spirit of the regular show. I get why they did it that way but it made the demise of a major character seem unimportant. What I really enjoyed was how they created the world and the technology of the 21st C -- between first contact and the original series -- and made the kinds of discoveries that the later show assumed. Can we please settle the question of Vulcans and emotion? It's not that mysterious!
