It is disrespectful to the Halo fans to have such an incredible opening and setup to the show to ruin it within the first episode by showing Master Chiefโs face. There is no excuse about making the character to be โall-inclusiveโ and 3D. You form attachment to the character by making the identity of Master Chief as being an ambiguous hero. This show had the potential to be great. Nice job wasting millions of dollars to make another version of this. Just follow the lore of the games! You do not need to rewrite the wheel. You can still form an attachment to a character without having an explicit identity, for example โThe Mandalorian.โ Yes, his face was later revealed, but in the first episode of the series? No. Thatโs wrong. (This was written about a month ago.)
UPDATE:
To my fellow die hard Halo fans, I have a new perspective on this show. Although I consider this to be an alternate reality to the original Halo games, I think this show is fantastic. I understand now the premise behind making John a 3 dimensional character, because it would be impossible for the audience to understand why we idolize the Master Chief. Originally I thought this show was a slap in the face, but seriously give this show a chance. I thought the premise for the conflict was dumb, the characters were outrageously different, and the conflict between the humans and Covenant was so skewed to the point I wouldnโt even consider the show to be based on Halo. Keep in mind I THOUGHT that originally. This show is awesome!!! I really love the cast and the new characters/relationships they have created for this universe and I definitely cannot wait for season 2 to come out. Awesome job Paramount. Please PLEASE continue the level of quality and love you have put into the show. I think this is the best show I have watched in 2022 so far. Also I love the actor who plays Master Chief. The guy nailed the role.
