Y'all, I was blown away today. I watched "In the Electric Mist" starring Tommy Lee Jones. I loved it so much I watched it twice and that is rare for me.
In the Electric Mist" was primarily filmed in Acadiana, Louisiana, specifically in and around New Iberia, Jeanerette, Delcambre, and St. Martinville. The film is based on the novel "In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead" by James Lee Burke (who is from New Iberia), and the setting is crucial to the story's atmosphere.
It was released in 2009 and I had never even heard of it. It won several international awards but had a very limited release here in the US.
It totally captured the culture, scenery, music and feel of south Louisiana. It has an outstanding cast including John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard, Mary Steenburg and Ned Beatty.
Additionally, the soundtrack features music by Buddy Guy, Nathan with the Zydeco Cha Chas, and Patty Griffin.
I highly recommend it. It's available on Amazon Prime.
