I was forward deployed when this movie came out. I knew what the premise was, and I definitely could relate to the plot. I just refused to watch it, IDKY i guess my subconscious stopped me, but then 3 teammates, Brothers, fell, and when I got back to the FOB I finally watched it.
I've loaded flag draped caskets inside C130sand KC10s on several occasions over the course of 15 years during numerous deployments, but I didn't know what truly happened once the birds flew away. Seeing the meticulous care and love that My Brothers received from all other branches, and some civilians, truly touched me deep inside my soul. I've only seen it that one time back in 2010, and I think I watched it then was because it allowed me to grieve.
